Explore the beauty of the mountains of the nearby Berchtesgaden area 

This tour takes you south of Salzburg and then west to the nearby area of Berchtesgaden. Several opportunities are offered during this tour, including the Salt Mine of Hallein, Dürrnberg, with its rich history spanning more than 2500years, the valley of Salzach and the city of Hallein before crossing the border to Bavaria.  We will then drive to the Obersalzberg, where Hitler had his “Berghof”, the summer seat of the political party and where decisions on peace and war were made. The period between May and November provide the best possibility of touring Hitler’s eagles nest (the documentation center is open year round). We will then drive to the village of Berchtesgaden, a town whose history dates back to the 12th century, and then to the lake of Hintersee and the church of Ramsau (a painting of which can be found in the White House in Washington, D.C.), or the Koenigssee bedded within steep mountains that are among the tallest in Germany!

We offer the tour described below; however we focus on tailor-made tours so we can adapt the tour to your specific interests.

Beginning in the city of Salzburg, you will be whisked away in one of our glass-roof vehicles to the region of Hallein and Berchtesgaden directly to the mountains and along the rivers and valleys.

We offer the tour in two options: 4h or 8h Tour.

The itinerary of the 4h tour will include:

• Village of Kaltenhausen
• Dürnberg Mountain (possibility to visit the Saltmines of Hallein) or 
• The Obersalzberg (possibility to visit the Hitler’s eagle’s nest during May – October, or the documentation center year around)
• Village of Berchtesgaden

The itinerary go the 8h tour will include:

• Village of Kaltenhausen
• Town of Hallein
• Dürnberg Mountain (possibility to visit the Saltmines of Hallein) and
• The Obersalzberg (possibility to visit the Hitler’s eagle’s nest during the period of May-October each year, or the documentation center year around)
• Village of Berchtesgaden
• Königssee (possibility take a boat ride to the village of St. Bartholome or the Obersee)
• Village of Ramsau (scenic view of the church with river and mountains)
• Lake of Hintersee
