Overview
The walking tour shows you Salzburg from its squares and bridges. This one takes you above it. In a private car with a local driver-guide you go to the viewpoints most visitors never reach without a car, in the right order for the light, and your guide takes the photos on your own phone or camera so nobody in your party is missing from them.
Where we stop
- Mönchsberg and the M32 terrace: we drop you at the Mönchsberg lift in the Old Town and ride up with you to the terrace of the Museum der Moderne, the classic view over the domes, the river and the fortress (lift ticket paid on the spot).
- Gaisberg: Salzburg's own mountain. The road climbs to the summit plateau at about 1,280 m, with the whole city below you and, on a clear day, the Salzkammergut lakes and the Alps in a wide circle.
- Rossfeld Panoramastrasse: the high road above Berchtesgaden in Bavaria, at about 1,600 m. The view reaches from the Salzburg basin to the Hoher Göll and the Berchtesgaden Alps. Road toll included.
- On the way, depending on the light and your wishes: the Maria Plain pilgrimage church above the city, or Leopoldskron Palace across its lake, the Sound of Music view.
Good to know
- €450 for your private group of up to 6, about 4 hours, with hotel pick-up and drop-off in Salzburg. Vehicle, fuel, parking and the Rossfeld road toll are included.
- Your guide photographs you on your own phone or camera. You go home with the pictures already on your device.
- The Rossfeld is in Germany, so bring your passport or ID card.
- Start time follows the light. Sunrise on the Gaisberg or the last hours before sunset on the Rossfeld are the best. Tell us your date and we suggest the time.
- Weather: low clouds sometimes leave the Gaisberg above the fog, which makes the best pictures of all. If the peaks are hidden, we change the order or the stops. In winter snow can close the upper Rossfeld road, and we replace it with another viewpoint.
- Very little walking, so this tour suits guests who cannot manage the stairs of the walking version.

Can we combine the walk and the drive?
Yes. Many guests do the drive in the morning and the Old Town walk before sunset. Ask us and we plan both on one day.
Do you bring a professional photographer?
The standard tour is led by a driver-guide who photographs you on your own device. A professional photographer with edited pictures is available as an extra on request.
How much does the photo drive cost?
€450 for your private group of up to 6 guests, about 4 hours, vehicle and driver-guide included. Only the Mönchsberg lift is paid on the spot.
Can we cancel?
Full refund up to 72 hours before the tour, 50% refund between 72 and 24 hours, no refund inside 24 hours.
